Last month I had the pleasure of staying at the 5* Hotel ‘Kimpton De Witt‘ in Amsterdam. I booked this trip as a gift for Tommy’s 20th birthday surprise back in August. Unfortunately, our departing flight got cancelled due to the Gatwick Drone activity. However, we were one of the lucky ones and were able to purchase a new flight for later on in the day. Our location was in the heart of the city, the hotel was super close to the train station (approximately a 5-minute walk).
There was a total of 274 rooms in the hotel, and we stayed in room 324. The whole ambience of the hotel was really soothing and relaxing. It was just what we needed during the busy festive period and after the Drone Drama.
The thing I loved the most how open the lobby area was. Every corner you turned had a different vibe to it. I was the most excited about the indoor/outdoor garden with the basket swing chairs. It was really cold in December, so we didn’t stay outside long. However, this would be the perfect chill spot in the Spring/Summertime – also, it’s very Instagrammable. In fact, the whole hotel is Instagrammable!
An amazing perk about the hotel was complimentary wine hour from 5pm-6pm every evening. The lobby really came to life at this time, as you could imagine. Clearly, a lot of people love wine, especially when it’s free! If you are not so much of a fan, then it’s great to know that there are free tea and water stations near the reception.
Riding a bike is an essential to the Amsterdam experience, it is a great way to get out and explore the city. Another amazing perk about the hotel was that there was also the option to hire one of the hotel’s bicycles to ride around Amsterdam all free of charge.
Overall, Tommy and I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. I definitely would reconsider staying here again at the Kimpton De Witt the next time I visit Amsterdam and that will be very soon as I really did fall in love with the city!
